What Leve of Education is Required to Become a Dentist?

First, they typically earn a bachelor’s degree and then must achieve either a Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) or Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) degree from one of the 70+ institutions accredited by the American Dental Association (ADA). Then, they can choose to focus on one of the 12 specialties recognized by the ADA.
At our practice, Dr. Vazquez earned her Doctor of Dental Medicine from the University of Puerto Rico School of Dental Medicine, and Dr. Peterson is a distinguished alumnus of the UT Dental School in Houston.
